How often should I water my Aloe vera plant?
I have two aloe vera plants. I was watering them ever week and they were very sick looking. Then I tried watering it every couple of weeks and it was doing better but still not great. What do I need to do to help it grow big and strong like some I have seen out and about.

I just got my first aloe vera plant two months ago.

1. Water the plant only when the soil is completely dry. Too much
water is a bad thing for these plants. It’s different depending on the size of the pot. A smaller pot requires more frequent watering as it dries faster. A larger pot requires less watering.

2. Make sure you are giving it plant food. They need the nutrients.

3. Also – Their roots grow shallow not deep, so a wide plant pot is recommended. Terra Cotta pots are the best as they are porous which allows for better air circulation, etc…

Hope this helps

How much water should I give my aloe Vera?
It’s in a 8 inch pot. And it has a “wingspan ” of 16 inches. I’m not sure how much to water it. I know it should be water every couple weeks or so but how much water?

Also, is there a way to determine how old my aloe plant is? Thanks! 🙂

No way to determine the age however the soil should be a well drained soil full of fertilizer and when you water it do it untill the soil is “fluffy”

How often do you water aloe vera?
I think I watered my aloe vera too often, about once a month. The leaves started shriveling up. Now that I let it dry out, I’m getting lots of new growth.

How much water for rosemary, lavender and aloe take?

How much water for rosemary, lavender and aloe take?
I just moved into a house that has rosemary, lavender and aloe all in the same flower bed. Do they all take the same amount of water? How much do they need? Also a new lemon tree – how much water?

Best Suggestion

Answer by absolutlyfab1
The lemon tree, unless newly planted you should be able to leave alone unless you have drought conditions. In warm summer days in direct sunlight they probably require one watering a day, do so in the evening so the water doesn’t evaporate. I’ve never seen aloe in direct sunlight though and not out of a planter or container. Rosemary and lavender should be fine with one watering a day unless it rains. Keep in mind they need full sun.

How much should you water an Aloe Vera plant?
I bought an Aloe Vera plant from Home Depot about 3 weeks ago, i planted it in a pot and watered once a week. The leaves are turning black while others are green. How much should I be watering them and do you know why this might be happening

Best Suggestion

Answer by Eric the Fred
I only water mine lightly when the compost has almost completely dried out. Aloe vera is a succulent which has adapted to growing in arid conditions and retains moisture by a process known as crassulacean acid metabolism, CAM for short. It sounds very much as if you are overwatering!

how often should i water my aloe plant?
does anyone know how often i should water my aloe plant….some people have told me very little but i cant seem to keep one alive…please help….thanks

I’ve seen them thrive on every variation, yet I can’t keep one alive either. My buddy has mountains of them hanging out in the yard, totally ignored most of the time in buckets, in the sun, shade, cold, and they do fine.
But they say, just damp once in a while. They are a desert plant.

I just got a new aloe plant and I have a BLACK thumb how often should I water it? I really don’t want to kill this one!!!

Answer by SteelAngel
The only watering problem you will have is if you water it too much. Once a week or when the top of the soil fells dry should do it. Just make sure it gets allot of bright light. Near a sunny window.
