Can you grow an aloe vera plant from a leaf of another?
If I cut/break off a leaf from an aloe vera plant can I just plant the leaf and it’ll make a new plant?
I’ve also read that I can use the plant’s “suckers” what exactly are the suckers? A picture would be nice… Or even an instructional video because I cant find one

Yes. The end of the leaf can be put in the soil. It will not look good for a few days, then it will perk up.They are also called shoots. The video will show shoots.

Can I grow a whole plant out of one aloe vera leaf?

Can I grow a whole plant out of one aloe vera leaf?
I saw large Aloe vera leaves at the grocery store the other day. They were single leaves, about 14 inches long, and were sold for about $ 1.50 each. I’ve been looking around for an aloe plant for a while now, so I was wondering if I could buy one of these single leaves, and pot it to grow a whole plant out of it? Would it work? Thanks in advance!

Probably not if they are from a grocery store. They have likely already been refrigerated, which basically destroys the hormones the plant uses to prompt root growth.

If you have a live plant, you can cut a leaf, let it “scab” over in 24-48hrs, then plant in moist soil scab-end down. It will work that way as long as you have warm humid conditions. It never hurts to ask a neighbor or friend for a cutting; I share stuff like that a lot.

How do i take aloe leaf cuttings?
I want some new baby aloes and wanna did to know how can i get my aloe leaf to start a new shoot?

Best Suggestion

Answer by Cid Young
Aloes will often send up “pups” next to the mother plant. That is the easiest way to propagate new plants from aloes. It has been my experience that Aloe’s are propagated by division, not by rooting cuttings.
Buy some liquid cactus fertilizer and water frequently to encourage new side growth. when you see new sprouts divide the pups from the mother plant and give them their own space in a new pot.

You don’t . Propagation is by division of small shoots from the main plant.

Why does my aloe plant smell like turkey when i break open a leaf?
When I put the gel from the aloe plant on my hands it smelled like thanksgiving all over again. Is this common?

I have several aloe and use them often, I have never smelt turkey, sorry to say. I think you plant might be sick, I would plan on either repotting it and probably water less. Also, if you have had it for more that 6 months without fertilizing than it would be a good idea. if it is kept in an over wet environment (aloe is a succulent, needs very little water) than the roots will die and it will become stagnant. and if you have it in a big pot than you need to allow the roots to grow enough so that they can use up the water at the bottom of the pot, or els it will grow stagnant, and produce bad bacteria that feed on the roots and the good microbes that are helping your plant thrive. if this does not help it, than check walmart or something like it, they usually have aloe somewhere there.
