What is the Incredible Aloe Plant Best Used For?

Aloe vera has been used in so many products these days that it is hard to imagine a world without it. But what’s the best use for it?

Everyone knows aloe is best in hand lotion, right? Wrong! The most healthful and beneficial use of the aloe vera plant is taking it as an immune-boosting supplement. Believe it or not, the amazing aloe plant is packed full of things that your body needs for health on the inside AND the outside. It contains 6 chemical agents that are known to fight and destroy disease-causing microorganisms. Aloe also has 3 fatty acids that your body loves, because they work to keep your joints and organs from getting sore due to inflammation. There are also studies suggesting that aloe vera is effective in raising the blood sugar levels in diabetics and reducing the likelihood of a heart attack.

Of course the next best use of aloe vera is going to be in hand lotion, right? Sorry, wrong again.

The Aloe plant also works great as a vitamin dietary supplement! It has been shown to contain the following vitamins: A, B (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5, B6, B12, C, E, and also folic acid. All of these vitamins contribute greatly to overall health. Aloe vera also has calcium, sodium, zinc, chromium, potassium, magnesium, copper, manganese, and selenium. These minerals also contribute greatly to overall health in many ways.

OK, now you can say it: aloe vera is GREAT in hand lotion, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and just about any skin product! The reason is much the same as that for dietary needs. Your skin is much like the rest of your organs, it’s just a little tougher since it’s on the outside. But your skin loves several of these vitamins.

Vitamin E protects skin from aging, reduces the appearance of age spots and stretch marks, and helps maintain the skin’s oil balance. Vitamin A stimulates skin repair and rejuvenation. Aloe in hand sanitizers is especially useful, since the germ-killing alcohol tends to dry out your skin. Using hand sanitizer containing aloe and taking an oral dose of aloe can greatly reduce your chances of getting sick.

So whether you drink it, eat it, or rub it on your skin, aloe vera is just a great additive! With so many uses, it’s no wonder it’s become a household plant!
