Should I used aloe vera or antibiotic ointment to help my skin?
I have a cold and, because I have sensitive skin, the skin around my nose has become raw and dry from blowing my nose so much. To speed my skin’s recovery, should I apply aloe vera or antibiotic ointment to my nose?

Vaseline should work fine. Aloe vera is also useful. Don’t use antibiotic ointment unless you have an open wound that you think may be infected.

help on my aloe vera or aloe plants watering?
OK i have been feeding my aloe plant 6-8 ml of water per meal and 2ml for a snack is this ok

Answer by Rottie Mom
Give your aloe a good drink about once every week to 10 days. I hope you have the plant in a pot with drainage holes so the excess water can run out. Don’t ever let the plant sit in water, dump out any water that collects after watering.

Aloes are succulents so they collect water in their leaves. No need to give them “meals” or “snacks.”

How long does it take for aloe vera to clear up acne on your face and help make your skin better?
I have been using aloe vera on my face for about three days now because many people have used it to clear acne and help your skin and it has reduced my acne a little. I was wondering how long it takes until you see results on your skin? Thanks

Help with growing an aloe plant from the seed; Can I use a heat lamp?

Help with growing an aloe plant from the seed; Can I use a heat lamp?
I got one of those aloe kits where you grow the plant from the seed in a little rock planter with a sprouting dome. The instructions say to keep the planter in bright light. Well it’s gonna be really cloudy and rainy here for the next week or two, and I was wondering if a heat lamp would be okay to use or would it be too harsh on a growing aloe seed?

You don’t need to concern yourself with light until the seed sprouts and by then you should be okay. They don’t need that much light every single day. I keep mine in the window with a northern exposure so it never sees bright light and it’s doing fine.

Because Aloe plants consist of 95% water, they are extremely frost tender. If they are grown outdoors in warm climates, they should be planted in full sun, or light shade. The soil should be moderately fertile, and fast draining. Established plants will survive a drought quite well, but for the benefit of the plant, water should be provided.
Because of their popularity, Aloe vera plants are available at almost every garden shop or nursery. Unless you live in area with a very mild climate, it’s best to leave your Aloe plant in the pot and place it near a window that gets a lot of sun. You can move the pot outdoors during the summer months.
Aloe vera is a succulent, and as such, stores a large quantity of water within its leaves and root system. During the winter months, the plant will become somewhat dormant, and utilize very little moisture. During this period watering should be minimal. Allow the soil to become completely dry before giving the plant a cup or two of water. During the summer months, the soil should be completely soaked, but then be allowed to dry again before re-watering.
Aloes have a shallow, spreading root system, so when it is time to repot choose a wide planter, rather than a deep one. Use a planter with a drainage hole, or provide a 1-2 inch layer of gravel in the bottom of the pot to ensure adequate drainage. Use a good commercial potting mix with extra perlite, granite grit, or coarse sand added. You may also use a packaged ‘cacti mix’ soil. Fertilize yearly, in the spring with a dilute (half strength), bloom type fertilizer (10-40-10).
Aloes are propagated by removing the offsets which are produced around the base of mature plants, when they are a couple inches tall (or larger). They may also be grown from seed.

I have an aloe plant that is quite healthy and would like to use it to grow another one. I heard you just pull off a leaf from the plant and plant it in a cup of soil and it will grow roots. Is this true? If not, please tell me how to do it

I think your right, you have to pull off the whole leaf though. Its probably just easier to buy a new one thou.

Help Identifying An Aloe Plant

As I was hiking in LA I pulled the leaf off of an aloe plant to plant on my balcony garden. Before I eat the thing, I did a little research on any potential dangers of aloe plants. Of course there are some kinds that aren’t meant for consumption. Since my plans are to eat the plant, I want to make sure the leaf that I have won’t make me dead. The bottom part of the leaf is white and it’s green until close to the tip where it starts to change to a rust color. The prickly edges of…
