Can you grow an aloe vera plant from a leaf of another?
If I cut/break off a leaf from an aloe vera plant can I just plant the leaf and it’ll make a new plant?
I’ve also read that I can use the plant’s “suckers” what exactly are the suckers? A picture would be nice… Or even an instructional video because I cant find one

Yes. The end of the leaf can be put in the soil. It will not look good for a few days, then it will perk up.They are also called shoots. The video will show shoots.

How come my plant won’t grow?

How come my plant won’t grow?
I have an Aloe plant in the same type of potting soil as another plant. The Aloe just keeps dying while the other plant is growing great and has five more plants sprouting from it. Should I change the potting soil to something else? If so, What kind? I also have some Aloe in plain dirt and they are not dying but they don’t seem to be growing either…

Can I grow a whole plant out of one aloe vera leaf?

Can I grow a whole plant out of one aloe vera leaf?
I saw large Aloe vera leaves at the grocery store the other day. They were single leaves, about 14 inches long, and were sold for about $ 1.50 each. I’ve been looking around for an aloe plant for a while now, so I was wondering if I could buy one of these single leaves, and pot it to grow a whole plant out of it? Would it work? Thanks in advance!

Probably not if they are from a grocery store. They have likely already been refrigerated, which basically destroys the hormones the plant uses to prompt root growth.

If you have a live plant, you can cut a leaf, let it “scab” over in 24-48hrs, then plant in moist soil scab-end down. It will work that way as long as you have warm humid conditions. It never hurts to ask a neighbor or friend for a cutting; I share stuff like that a lot.

Do the flowers of the Aloe Vera plant yield seed that will grow new plants?

Do the flowers of the Aloe Vera plant yield seed that will grow new plants?
I know that aloe gets offshoots, but my hubby keeps bugging me about the flowers wanting me to gather the seeds. How long does it take for the plant to sprout offshoots…. I have had this plant about 5 years and have it planted in my garden. It’s big and beautiful and currently blooming.

I have several plants in my yard all came from one plant. Just leave the flower alone. when it dies the seeds fall and from that plant up will come another aloe plant. I never collect the seeds,I just wait to cut the shoots from the big plant and plant them in a pot or somewhere in the yard. You should have shoots off of that one plant. I have had my plant for about 5 years and I now have about 10 plants. I have planted five of these plants around my garden and from them I now have five more. So I have about 10 plants.I can’t explain why yours hasn’t produced. I just water as usual once a week for the garden and fertilize once a month. If you still do not have any shoots (they grow under the main plant) then wait for the flower to die-take the seed and plant in a pot with good fertile dirt and see if that will get you started.I also have them planted in full sunlight and partial sunlight.

I have a big aloe vera, but I want another one but most of the aloe vera that they sell in stores are small so I wanted to plant my own but im not sure if you can plant one by seed and if you can where can you buy the seeds?

Yes, you can, any plant can be grown from seed, with the exception of some primitive plants like ferns, moss, and hepaticae…

But it is much easier to propagate Aloe Vera through fragmentation than through seeds, so not many people sell them.

You could try using hormone rooting powder and grow a leaf sample…
